The PC-based POS system Vectron POS SteelTouch PC unites sophisticated design with unusually high robustness. The housing is 100% metal, while the 38.1 cm (15-inch) touchscreen's display frame is made of brushed stainless steel. The POS SteelTouch PC can be networked with all Vectron POS systems and is the ideal supplement in the event that typical PC functions such as e-mail and internet applications, windows applications or back office programmes are required at a workplace in addition to POS functions. The unit is delivered with the flexible POS software Vectron POS PC and Windows XP Professional as standard.

PC-based, high-performance POS system

The POS system is equipped with a crumb, water and dust-resistant display front. The robust Vectron POS SteelTouch PC is thus perfectly suitable for use in bar areas within the hospitality sector and in other stressful environments, e.g. bakeries, hot food takeaways etc… The POS system’s continuously adjustable TFT touchscreen can be tilted as required, and offers ample space for clear, convenient operations. The use of interference-prone, loud and dust-attracting fans has been discontinued! The Vectron POS SteelTouch PC uses a superior passive convection cooling system with ventilation slots, which are used for the electronics and this special design prevents infiltration by liquids and objects.

The flexible POS software Vectron POS PC is easy to customise in line with the various operating requirements, facilitating industry-specific special functions. Display fields and buttons can be freely positioned and configured. The display shows only those input options related to the operational stage in question, thereby simplifying cash register operations and simultaneously facilitating rapid on-the-job training.

When the POS PC software is shut down, the POS data is automatically backed up on a USB stick. This ensures that the risk of data loss is minimised. As a PC-based POS system, the POS SteelTouch PC is vulnerable to potential security risks! Unlike Vectron’s proprietary POS system models. Therefore (as with all PC based systems) additional use of current security software is highly recommended.

A highly versatile POS system

The Vectron POS SteelTouch PC uses the Windows XP Professional operating system. This means that PC applications such as e-mail, internet, Office or layout programmes can also be used in addition to POS functions after the relevant software has been installed. This makes the POS system extremely versatile. In hospitality business’s, for example, the system can be used to design menus or manage bookings, while correspondence can be dealt with via text processing programmes or e-mail functions. Information required at short notice can be researched quickly online, and media players can play music, etc.

Numerous interfaces, including four USB ports, enable the connection of diverse peripherals such as printers, scanners, card terminals, cash drawers, keyboards and much more, resulting in a POS system which is perfectly tailored to current operating requirements.

The POS system can also be equipped with a customer display, magnetic card reader or WLAN upon request.

The POS system: network use

The Vectron POS SteelTouch PC is designed for use in POS networks. Although, as a PC-based POS system, its hardware basis contrasts with that of the proprietary Vectron POS systems, it can nonetheless be networked with all current and future Vectron models. This facilitates maximum flexibility, with the result that a mixture of stationary, mobile and PC POS systems can be operated simultaneously. The network installation takes place via the economic 10/100/1000 MBit/s Ethernet standard.
